I never know what to say when you ask me what’s wrong. I mean, how can I tell you that you’re all I want, and knowing that I can’t have you tears me apart.
Every human life is worth the same, and worth saving.
Life is rough, crap happens, and all good things come to an end eventually. But bad things don’t just happen for no apparent reason. They happen to show us a new path, a different light; to lead us to what is really important in life; to bring us closer to the only One who is good and never comes to an end.
Let’s never take what we have for granted. One life. One chance.
When faced with two choices, simply toss a coin. It works not because it settles the question for you, but because in that brief moment when that coin is in the air, you suddenly know what you are hoping for.
And some days I wish I could un-meet you. But then I think about all the good times we had. And it’s not enough to want you back in my life, but it’s enough to make me realize that you and me had our time; our laughs, our tears, our smiles. And through all the ups and downs, you taught me how to love.
So please try not to hate me. I am a flawed human being- a far more flawed human being than you realize. Which is precisely why I do not want you to hate me. Because, if you were to do that, I would really go to pieces. I can’t do what you do; I can’t slip inside my shell and wait for things to pass.
In your life, your going to come across people who say the right words at the right time, but in the end it’s their actions you should go by.
We all start out knowing magic. We are born with whirlwinds, forest fires, and comets inside of us. We are born able to sing to birds and read the clouds and see our destiny in grains of sand. But then we get the magic educated right out of our souls.
Sometimes life is just hard, for no reason at all.
You never know how things are going to turn out. You aim for one place, sure as an arrow, but before you hit the mark, the wind gets you.
There’s a lot that I don’t understand. But I do know that it’s important to keep fighting. I learned that from you. We never win. Never will. That’s not why we fight. We do it because there are things worth fighting for.
The thing about pain is, it teaches you humility.
Feed your faith and your fear will starve to death.
Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities have crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day. You shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense.
If you want to succeed in your life, remember the phrase: The past does not equal the future. Because you failed yesterday; or all day today; or a moment ago; or for the last sixth months; the last sixteen years; or the last fifty years of life…doesn’t mean anything. All that matters is: What are you going to do, right now?
I’m afraid that if you look at a thing long enough, it loses all of its meaning.
May your coming year be filled with magic, and dreams, and good madness. I hope you read some fine books and kiss someone who thinks you’re wonderful. And don’t forget to make some art- write or draw or build or sing or live as only you can. And I hope somewhere in the next year, you surprise yourself.
Love from the center of who you are; don’t fake it. Run for dear life from evil; hold on for dear life to good. Don’t burn out; keep yourselves fueled and aflame. Don’t quit in hard times; pray all the harder. Laugh with your happy friends when they are happy; share tears when they’re down. Make friends with nobodies; don’t be the great somebody. Don’t hit back; discover beauty in everyone. Don’t insist on getting even; that’s not for you to do. Don’t let evil get the best of you; get the best of evil by doing good.
Nobody gives you a chance, you’ve got to take chances.
Be that good person, the one that’s hard to find. Be someone that others trust without question, and never give them a reason to regret it. Treat people generously all of your life. Be quick to help out anyone in need, reach out to the less-fortunate. when you speak, say something worthwhile, and always say it kindly. Always faces tomorrow with a smile. Be someone who is worth admiration and praise, someone that lives the good life that they deserve.
I want a life that sizzles and pops and makes me laugh out loud. And I don’t want to get to the end, or tomorrow, even, and realize that my life is a collection of meetings and pop cans and errands and receipts and dirty dishes. I want to eat cold tangerines, and sing out loud in the car with the windows open, and wear pink shoes, and stay up all night laughing, and paint my walls the exact color of the sky right now. I want to sleep hard on cold white sheets, and throw parties, and eat ripe tomatoes, and read books so good they make me jump up and down.
To let go isn’t to forget, not to think about, or to ignore. It doesn’t have feelings of anger, jealousy, or regret. Letting go isn’t winning, isn’t losing. It’s not about pride. It’s not about obsessing or dwelling on the past. It’s not giving in or giving up. Letting go isn’t about loss, and it’s not defeat. To let go is to cherish memories, but to overcome them and move on. Letting go is having the courage to accept the strength to keep moving. Because letting go is growing up.
Being beautiful is more than how many boys look at you, or how much makeup you wear. It’s about what you live for. It’s about what defines you. It’s about the heart that you have and what makes you special. It’s about those little quirks that make you, you. It’s about knowing that you are a creation of God, in His image. It’s about shining for Him, no matter what else is going on around you. It’s about going against the flow and living out what you honestly think. And that, is a beautiful thing.
The truth was, history repeated itself on a daily basis; mistakes were made over and over. People were haunted by what they had done and what they hadn’t had time to do.
The essence of life is not being perfect, impressing people, or succeeding at everything. The essence of life is simply making mistakes and learning from them, surrounding yourself with people that love you when you’re being yourself, and getting through the failures so that you can continue improving.
