I almost do

The most important thing is to be whatever you are without shame.

But don't forget who you really are. And I'm not talking about your so-called real name. All names are made up by someone else, even the one your parents gave you. You know who you really are. When you're alone at night, looking up at the stars, or maybe lying in your bed in total darkness, you know that nameless person inside you...Your muscles will toughen. So will your heart and soul. That's necessary for survival. But don't lose touch with that person deep inside you, or else you won't really have survived at all.

You just have to keep putting yourself out there and hope you get something back.

If you woke up breathing, congratulations; you have another chance.

For some moments in life, there are no words.

I laughed and said, "Life's easy." What I meant was, "Life's easy with you here. When you leave, it's hard again."

I think we are all advised to keep on nodding terms with the people we used to be, whether we find them attractive company or not. Otherwise they turn up unannounced and surprise us, come hammering on the mind's door at 4 a.m. of a bad night and demand to know who deserted them, who betrayed them, who is going to make amends.

There are a few rules I know to be true about love and marriage: If you don't respect the other person, you're gonna have a lot of trouble. If you don't know how to compromise, you're gonna have a lot of trouble. If you can't talk openly about what goes on between you, you're gonna have a lot of trouble. And if you don't have a common set of values in life, you're gonna have a lot of trouble. Your values must be alike.

You may feel alone when you're lying in bed, or cry yourself to sleep. But always remember that your heart belongs to someone you've yet to meet, and, someday, you will be loved.

Death ends a life, not a relationship.

If there’s one thing every kid needs growing up, it’s a best friend. Someone you trust. Someone who trusts you. Someone you measure yourself against. You go through everything together. Important things. Stupid things. Things that matter. Things that don’t.

Happiness cannot be traveled to, owned, earned, worn, or consumed. Happiness is the spiritual experience of living every minute with love, grace, and gratitude.

We all go through life wondering what other people think of us. The truth is the harshest words are the words we say about ourselves.

As you grow old, you learn more. If you stayed at twenty-two, you'd always be as ignorant as you were at twenty-two. Aging is not just decay, you know. It's growth. It's more than the negative that you're going to die, its also the positive that you understand you're going to die, and that you live a better life because of it.

Let's hold onto each other above everything else.

Because the odds of you finding your soulmate in your hometown in a world of billions are pretty fucking slim. Because gay people and black people and immigrants and addicts and cab drivers and jiggalos aren’t assholes. People are assholes. And the only way you learn to undo all of the bullshit and prejudices and stereotypes people have put in your head is by experiencing more life, seeing more things, starting more conversations and taking more chances.

"The most important thing is to be whatever you are without shame."

The first boy I ever "fell in love with" (as much as you can when you're 12) told me "don't ever be ashamed of who you are or what you can do." You just reminded me of that. i love it. i love that he told me that. i love that you put that quote up. i needed reminding. have a beautiful day.

Do you write all of these or collect some of them as bits and pieces from all over? either way, they're always amazing.
